Tree of heaven tincture
Ailanthus Altissima
Description
Product description
Latin name: Ailanthus altissima. The Tree of Heaven, Tree of God, Chinese ash or Chumak is also called Stinker because of the unpleasant smell of the leaves and flowers. It is a fast-growing, strong tree that grows up to 25 to 30 meters high.
When the maximum height of 25 m is reached, the tree has a width of approximately 15 m. The inflorescence of this Stinker is characterized by very large, compound leaves with large white plumes of yellow-green or pink-red fruits.
It originated in China and Korea and is slowly spreading across the Western world. Tree of Heaven is known as an invasive tree species and that is why attempts are being made in the Netherlands to ban the sale and keeping of Tree of Heaven. That is a shame because the Tree of Heaven grows where other trees do not want to grow, for example in extremely urbanized environments.
