Artemisia Annua tincture
Artemisia Annua
Description
Product description
The Latin name is Artemisia annua. Other Dutch names are: Summer Wormwood, Sweet Wormwood, Annual Mugwort or Lieve Annie (Sweet Annie). It is a robust and beneficial, camphoraceous-scented, annual plant with bright green fine leaves and inconspicuous small green-yellowish flowers. In China this plant is called Qing Hao and has been one of the most important herbs since ancient Chinese times.
The sweet or annual wormwood grows fast, just like wild mugwort, and with bright green fern-like leaves and cloudy bright yellow flower clusters, it has a soft appearance and a striking fresh scent. The plant can reach a height of 2 meters and is part of a genus with 500 species that grow mainly in temperate climates of Eurasia and North America. Annual wormwood is actually a semi-shrub and grows on sandy, well-drained, slightly calcareous soil in the sun, but it also tolerates less favorable conditions such as drought and poor soil. The perennial mugwort multiplies by moving the seeds with the wind or via the rhizomes. The annual artemisia is less dominant and does not occur in the wild in the Netherlands.
