Did you know?
The terms "resistance" and "immune system" are sometimes used interchangeably. Yet they both refer to different aspects of your body
Resistance
Resistance is often talked about the body's ability to defend itself. The body defends itself every day against harmful external influences. The term does not only include the immune system's response to these attacks. Other physiological systems that contribute to the protection of the body also fall under resistance. Consider, for example, the skin barrier, the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory tract. If you have strong resistance, your body is better able to prevent or fight diseases. Stronger resistance means a more vital body.
Immune system
The immune system is a specific part of your resistance. It is a complex network of cells, tissues and organs that work together. Together, this network protects the body against infections and diseases. Simply put; the immune system finds harmful pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites and fights them to keep you healthy. Your immune system consists of two parts.
Part 1; the innate immune system. A rapid and non-specific system that responds to pathogens.
Part 2; the adaptive immune system. This component provides specific and long-term protection after exposure to a specific pathogen.
