Cat's Claw Tincture
Uncaria Tomentosa
Description
Product Description Samento/ Cat's Claw Tincture
Latin name: Uncaria TomentosaIn the Netherlands, it's also known as Cat's Claw. Others also know the plant as Samento.
Cat's Claw is a creeping, climbing plant that grows in the Amazon rainforest of Central and South America. Its thorns, reminiscent of cat's claws, help it cling to giant forest trees.
The local indigenous population has used the root and inner bark of the plant for centuries as a natural remedy. The roots contain the most active ingredients and powers. A concern is that in large parts of South America, the plant is being irresponsibly overexploited. In Peru, for example, the harvesting of roots is therefore prohibited, and the bark is harvested instead.
Since the 20th century, this herb has also been studied in the West and many scientific studies have been conducted. Cat's Claw is also one of the basic herbs in either the Cowden or Buhner protocols.
