Latin name: Dipsacus fullonum. Also known as Wild Teasel or Prickly Teasel. In English the plant is often referred to as Wild Teasel or Fuller's Teasel.

Teasel is a robust, biennial plant that stands out because of its long stem with spiky leaves and its characteristic, egg-shaped flower heads with purple flowers. It is a native plant in Europe and has been valued there for centuries in folk medicine.

Although Teasel is less well-known in official phytotherapy, the plant has gained popularity in naturopathic circles in recent years, partly due to the work of herbalist authors such as Wolf-Dieter Storl. As a result, interest in this special European herb is growing, also outside of its folk medicinal use.

Teasel is not only used in Europe. In Chinese medicine, the related species Dipsacus japonicus has been used for centuries. There it is known as Xu Duan, which means 'repair what is broken'.

Teasel juice versus TeaselTincture

•  Long-term vs. short-term effects: The root Tincture often provides a slower, more structural support. The carrot juice mixture has a more direct, stimulating effect, and is lighter and gentler.
•  Phytochemical composition: Tinctures often contain more fat- and alcohol-soluble components. Carrot juice is richer in water-soluble substances.
•  Shelf life: One Tincture based on macerate in alcohol has a long shelf life. Carrot juice, even with alcohol, has a somewhat shorter shelf life.
•  Energetic effect: In some traditional systems, such as anthroposophy or Ayurvedic phytotherapy, carrot juice is considered "living", which makes it beneficial for acute support.

Dosage and use

Usage

Half an hour before a meal, you can take the drops as they are, or in a glass of water. If you leave it for a while, the alcohol evaporates but the active ingredients are retained. The tincture can be diluted in water or herbal tea, for example. Taking it at the same time as other tinctures is no problem. It is best not to take it just before, just after or during meals, as this weakens the effect (unless this is the intention). If necessary, a course of treatment can be extended or repeated if this makes sense. Keep the liquid in your mouth for a while (preferably a minute) before swallowing; the ingredients come into contact with the oral mucosa and are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

Every treatment, regardless of severity, starts with a low dose. This is to prevent a lot of toxins being released at once (by the death of germs). Because toxins are always released (even at low doses), it is advisable to drink a lot of water during the treatment and to use detoxification and elimination agents at the same time.

Dosage

Light treatment:Build up to 3 x 2 drops per day

Average treatment:Build up to 3 x 10 drops per day

Intensive treatment:Build up to 3 x 20 drops per day

Or as prescribed by your doctor or healthcare provider. This dosage is used for adults. For children aged 6 to 12, the dosage is usually halved.

Teasel can cause a severe reaction in too high a dosage. If this reaction is too severe, it is advised to reduce the dosage. It is advisable to adjust the dosage together with an expert practitioner to what is effective and not burdensome in your case.

For sensitive people (or children) Teasel is also available as pressed juice or as D3 homeopathic dilution. Teasel is also suitable for horses and dogs.

You can use this product indefinitely, but we advise to take a break after prolonged use. Or after consultation with your practitioner.
